Program Details

Given the complex social and emotional issues facing many of our students, the need to provide mental health services in the schools is critical. North River Collaborative offers a program that brings MSW interns into the schools to help address the many social emotional and mental health issues that may commonly impact a student’s educational experience.

The interns come from Boston College Graduate School of Social Work, Boston University Graduate School of Social Work, Bridgewater State University Graduate School of Social Work and Simmons College Graduate School of Social Work. The interns are placed in participating schools within our districts.

Services provided by the Social Work Interns include individual counseling, group counseling, classroom interactive activities, crisis intervention, consultation with school staff and outreach to parents and outpatient collaterals.

The interns are in field from September to May and work between 16-24 hours a week. They are supervised by a North River Collaborative LICSW and receive extensive training. There is no cost to students or families for these services.
