A psycho-educational evaluation is a formal assessment completed by a licensed psychologist using standardized tests, interview and observation tools to evaluate a student’s cognitive abilities and academic skills across a variety of areas including memory, attention, reasoning, and executive functioning. Assessment may also include academic achievement testing. The evaluation provides insight regarding a student’s individual learning style and function within the school setting and provides suggestions to consider when developing learning strategies, accommodations and environmental supports to promote student success.
